Richard Brooks is a British investigative journalist for ''Private Eye'', and author of several books. Until 2005, he was a tax inspector at HMRC, "specialising in international and corporate taxation".〔(The principles of tax policy ), written evidence by Richard Brooks〕 Brooks worked for the British government as an HMRC tax inspector for 16 years, followed by a year at the Treasury giving ministers policy advice. Since 2004, he has been a regular contributor to ''Private Eye''.〔 Brooks won the 2008 Paul Foot Award for his investigation into the privatisation of the CDC Group.
